30 Day Challenge: 30 Days of Living Like Christ

Shop the Look“Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.” 1 John 2:6

I am so very excited about this!! The biggest problem for me when it comes to modeling my life after Christ is that it is often hard for me to see where I am lacking in my everyday life. I have put together this 30 Day Challenge in hopes that we can all make small changes that will lead to bigger changers and soon we will be living like Christ. I hope you join me on this 30 day journey! Personally I will be keeping a journal and updating it each day and will update you all again at the end of the 30 days! So here we go!!

30 Day Challenge: 30 Days of Living Like Christ!

Day 1: Evaluate your relationship with Christ– Before Starting the challenge, it is important to evaluate your spiritual relationship. Do I spend a lot of time in prayer? In the Word? What do I need to work on?

Day 2: Devote 10 minutes to prayer. Prayer is often hard for most people, definitely me. That is why we will be starting small, with just a few minutes and working our way up.

Day 3: Take a walk and take 5 pictures of God’s creation. Often we find ourselves so distracted by the 100 miles a minute life around us that we forget to stop and take a look at all the beauty God has provided us with.

Day 4: Music Cleanse. What we listen to easily influences us, whether it is our mood, words, or actions. It is important to make sure we are only allowing positive music in our everyday life.

Day 5: Devote 15 minutes to the written Word. Just like Prayer, devoting time to the written word can be quite difficult to some. Devote yourself to 15 minutes and see how it affects your day.

Day 6: Random Act of Kindness “Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” Ephesians 4:31-32

Day 7: List your blessings. Sometimes we focus so much on what is going wrong in our lives for forget all the ways in which we are blessed. Use today to focus on your blessings and to lift up thanksgiving to the Lord.

Day 8: Share your favorite verse & how it has affected you. Just like we all prefer different movies/songs/books because of how they spoke to us, the same can go with Bible Verses. What verse impacted you and Why?

Day 9: Research the answer to a Bible question you have always wondered. Feel free to share your research! You never know who might have been wondering the same thing!

Day 10: Get Rid/Give away something materialistic that you are way too attached to. Materialism is a dangerous thing, very easily can everyday objects become idols without us even realizing. It is important to stay aware and if their is something taking precedent over the Lord, it is important to sever that unhealthy bond.

Day 11:Social Media Cleanse. I often struggled with this one because I would want to delete others who posted things I did not feel was good for my eyes, however I did not want to remove them in hopes I could be a positive influence to them. Thankfully Facebook has now allowed it where you can “unfollow” someone and still be friends, meaning you can clean up your timeline while still having your stuff accessible to positively influence others. Try to clean up your facebook today, and any other social media in the best way you know how.

Day 12: Random Act of Kindness. Except this time, try to be anonymous.

Day 13: Forgive Someone. This will probably be the hardest for some of you. But you can do it. “Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” Colassions 3:13

Day 14: Devote 25 minutes to the written Word

Day 15: Give up a bad habit. This can be for the day, but hopefully this is the beginning of giving it up for the long run.

Day 16: Devote 20 minutes in prayer

Day 17: Talk to a friend about Jesus. “And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.” Mark 16:15

Day 18: Do something within your faith that frightens you. Be bold. Are you afraid to fully worship God during church worship with song because you are scared that others will laugh? Are you afraid to join a bible study or outreach program because you don’t know anyone? Practice boldness today and see how it works out for you!

Day 19: Volunteer/Join an Outreach. Unsure how? Ask your church, call a local soup kitchen/nursing home/etc. People need love all over the place.

Day 20: Give up social media for the day. As hard as this can be for some of us, devote today to giving up social media and see how it affects your mood.

Day 21: Closet Cleanse. Use today to go through your belongings and give away what you can. This is important to make sure we are not attached to materialistic items and making sure our clothing also Glorify’s God. “You have a good many little gifts and virtues, but there is no need of parading them, for conceit spoils the finest genius. There is not much danger that real talent or goodness will be overlooked long, and the great charm of all power is modesty.” Louisa May Alcott

Day 22: Devote 45 minutes in the written Word

Day 23: Random Act of Kindness. Use today to try to create a “Pass It On” act of kindness, in hopes to influence others to practice kindness as well.

Day 24: Talk to a stranger about Jesus. “But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am only a youth’; for to all to whom I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, declares the Lord.” Jeremiah 1:7-8

Day 25: Fast for the day. This can include fasting from food, social media, electronics, whatever you feel you are more attached than you should be. Use this day to spend time in prayer and fasting to break whatever addiction/temptation holds power over you!

Day 26: Share your story of a time when God most impacted you

Day 27: Home Cleanse. Similar to the music/closet/social media cleanse, use today to make sure you have surrounded yourself with things that will bring you closer to God, rather than further from him.

Day 28: Devote 1 hour in the written Word. Was it easier this time?

Day 29: Devote 30 minutes in prayer. Did the prayer feel more natural?

Day 30: How has your relationship grown/changed throughout this challenge?

  1. While I really enjoyed and am doing your 30 day challenge, I saw no mention of church or talking with others who are more mature and asking them what helps them with each step.

    1. Thank you for joining this journey and I hope you keep us updated. Thank you for your advice, however with all due respect sir my goal isn’t to boost “church” but to boost the Lord and my hope with this blog is to make it as authentic as possible and to help others who are currently trying to learn and build a stronger relationship with Christ just as I am. I welcome any advice others may have concerning tips for each step. We would always love to hear from others!

  2. Good points! All believers are indeed called to live as Christ’s representatives. I do agree with Frankie Wells that a genuinely Christian lifestyle includes commitment to a local body of believers, but that can take many forms.
